Telefonica has been awarded a EUR 1.8 million contract to bring fibre-optic services to the islands of Fuerteventura, La Palma and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands archipelago.
The project is co-financed by the EU's regional development programme Feder plus local authorities and will see the company install a fibre-optic network covering a total of 37 localities on the three islands. Telefonica last year completed an FTTH rollout project in the nearby Canary islands of La Gomera and El Hierro.
