‘Mobile Government’ introduced to promote e-services in Iran

The first phase of e-government services project in Iran officially came on stream under the title of ‘Mobile Government’.

The project aims to facilitate some government services, reduce unnecessary expenses and ease traffic jam, which is the main cause of air pollution in big cities.

It is based on the National Information Network, an ongoing project to develop a secure and stable infrastructure network in the country.

The project was introduced during a ceremony held to mark World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

Communications and Information Technology Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi and Head of Information Technology Organization of Iran (ITO) Rasoul Saraeian were amongst the officials who attended the ceremony, which was held at the venue of Communications and Information Technology Ministry.

Up to now 1,246 cities in Iran have 3G and 4G network coverage, Jahromi announced.

“Although the infrastructures for e-services is now available in Iran, some organizations do not join the e-government,” he lamented.

At the ceremony, Saraeian also made speech saying that through Mobile Government, services are available 24-7 for people.

Environment protection, citizenship rights and optimization is some of achievements of e-government, he added.

The project, which provides 55 services, facilitate bureaucratic process.

National Organization for Civil Registration, Iran Post, Iranian National Tax Administration, Social Security Organization, State Welfare Organization of Iran and Securities and Exchange Organization are amongst organizations, which provide services on Mobile Government.
