SLT Group Q1 EBITDA grows by 8.5 percent

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) reported EBITDA of LKR 6.1 billion for the first quarter of 2018, which represents a year-on-year growth of 8.5 percent. EBITDA margin increased to 30.8 percent from 30.1 percent in the year-earlier period. Group revenue for the quarter amounted to LKR 19.8 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 5.9 percent, while operating cost amounted to LKR 13.7 billion during the quarter with 4.7 percent year-on-year increase.

Group operating profit declined to LKR 1.58 billion in the first quarter of 2018 from LKR 1.62 billion in the corresponding period of 2017. Profit for the period plunged 19 percent year-on-year to LKR 1.2 billion in the quarter ended 31 March 2018.

The holding company reported EBITDA of LKR 3.5 billion in the first quarter of this year, which represents a growth of 13.2 percent year-on-year. The company enhanced its EBITDA margin to 30 percent from 27.2 percent a year before, while increasing the revenues by 2.8 percent year-on-year to LKR 11.5 billion. Profit for the period fell to LKR 332 million in the first quarter of 2018 from LKR 545 million in the year-earlier period.
