Pay-TV revenues in Spain increased by 14% in 2017, according to data published by the regulator CNMC.
In the fourth quarter, traditionally the most lucrative, they amounted to €564 million, compared to €560 million for FTA services.
IP TV services (XDSL/FTTH) saw the strongest revenue growth in Q4, the €317 million posted being 13% up on the same period in 2016.
Ad revenues in Q4 amounted to €641 million, of which €537 million was claimed by TV.
Of the latter figure, FTA accounted for €513 million and pay-TV €24 million.
The total number of subscribers at the end of Q4 was 6.59 million, or 183,000 more than three months earlier.
IPTV (+193,000) and online TV (+35,000) grew the most, but CNMC points out that the latter figure includes only operators based in Spain, and not HBO, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
