Claro stages IPTV ‘soft launch’ in Buenos Aires

America Movil (AM) has confirmed that Claro Argentina has staged a ‘soft launch’ of its new IPTV service in Buenos Aires. The company noted: ‘We are fine-tuning our offer and will continue with the rollout of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) to strengthen our fixed business in the country.’ NexTV News LatAm claims that the service is being trialled in the partido (second-level administrative subdivision) of Vicente Lopez.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in January this year Argentina’s National Entity for Communications (Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones, ENACOM) awarded Claro a ‘Servicios de Radiodifusion por Suscripcion’ (Subscription Broadcasting Services) concession covering Hurlingham, Moron, Tres de Febrero and Vicente Lopez (all Greater Buenos Aires), alongside Salta in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires, CABA).
