GVA sets 22 March as launch date for FTTH network

GVA (Group Vivendi Africa), a newly licensed ISP in the tiny state of Togo, will launch its new fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the capital Lome on 22 March 2018, according to reports in French newspaper Jeune Afrique. GVA reportedly plans to expand its service coverage in other areas once it has established itself. TeleGeography notes that while little is known about its plans, the newcomer has been set up to develop ultra-high speed internet access in Africa, including launching a fibre-based service in Gabon in October 2017. The terms of GVA’s Togo licence award in June 2017 gave it nine months to deploy its fibre-optic services, with the unit earlier saying it aimed to launch in several neighbourhoods of Lome to offer a large number of homes and businesses FTTHservices at affordable prices with the support of Canal+.
