Cambodian mobile operator Smart Axiata has launched a plug-and-play home broadband service that enables subscribers to access Wi-Fi via a wireless router for up to ten simultaneously connected devices. Three ‘Smart @Home’ plans are on offer, priced at USD12 per month for maximum download speeds of 4Mbps, USD15 for 6Mbps and USD18 per month for data rates of up to 10Mbps. The router has a built-in SIM card that connects to Smart’s wireless network; the fixed service is intended for home use only and is automatically locked to the users’ location 48 hours after the package is activated. The service is currently available in the cities of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Battambang, but in the next few weeks will be expanded to other areas, including Krong Ta Khmau (Kandal province), Kampong Som (Sihanoukville), Krong Chbar Mon (Kampong Speu), Poipet and Sisophon.
