Pargs of North Yorkshire are to receive new 4G mobile phone coverage, following the installation of three new mobile sites.
EE has expanded its 4G coverage in the county as part of its investment in providing coverage for the new Emergency Services Network, which will connect about 300,000 emergency services personnel in the UK. The three new mobile sites also means that some customers in North Yorkshire will get 4G coverage for the first time.
The areas affected include Terrington and Oswaldkirk in Ryedale and the B1363, which runs between York and Helmsley. The third 4G mobile site, which will come online shortly, will benefit residents of Marske near Richmond and drivers on the A6108.
Councillor Don Mackenzie, executive member for access in North Yorkshire, said: “We welcome EE’s investment in our digital infrastructure. Improving mobile signal is a key way of helping rural areas compete and North Yorkshire County Council fully supports such improvements. The new masts will provide additional coverage for many new residents and businesses as well as helping with tourism. I understand that some sections of roads will now have a mobile signal for the very first time. This shows the commitment of both parties to work together to provide better mobile phone coverage in North Yorkshire”
