Botswanan cellco Mascom Wireless has launched what it says is the country’s first fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service.
While the service is initially only available to around 500 homes in the Phakalane district of capital city Gaborone, there are plans to expand coverage to other areas. Mascom says it will also be adding IP telephony alongside its fibre internet products. MTN Group subsidiary Mascom is Botswana’s largest cellco by subscribers, with around 1.75 million customers, while it has also been offering home and business internet access via fixed-wireless links.
