France Télévisions has launched Slash, a new digital-only offer with which it hopes to attract 18-30 year olds. At the same time, the public broadcaster will also be launching a SVOD service.
Slash is offered both on the site of france.tv, but also on social networks such as Facebook, Snap, Twitter and YouTube, and is composed of exclusively dedicated videos (magazines, documentaries, comedy sketches, but also series such as Skam etc.).
For this project, France TV is inspired by online-only BBC Three. “We want France Télévisions to be part of the daily lives of young people,” said Tiphaine de Raguenel, director of youth activities at France TV. :Every day, nearly one in three 15-34 year olds watch France TV channels. The aim is to increase this.”
In a related development, Arkena has been selected by France Télévisions for the transcoding of its upcoming SVOD service.
Through Arkena’s Content Management solution, Cloud4Media, media files will be received, checked, prepared and delivered in all formats necessary for multiscreen distribution (computers, smartphones, connected TVs, internet boxes).
“It is the recognition of a strong expertise in OTT and the relationship of trust established with our customers. We are honored to have been chosen to work on a project of this magnitude,” said Jean-Baptiste Darras, Chief Marketing Officer of Arkena.
