Telekom embarks on phase two of FTTH business rollout

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has begun deployment of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in business parks in 33 towns and cities, enabling bandwidths of up to 1Gbps for 7,600 enterprises. This marks the second phase of Telekom’s rollout of fibre-optic infrastructure in business parks, which began last year. The new deployments are set to take place in towns and cities including Bonn, Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig and Potsdam, with around 500km of fibre-optic cables expected to be installed.

‘Business parks are at the heart of our fibre-optic build-out strategy. We are thinking nationwide, urban and rural, north, south, east and west,’ commented Hagen Rickmann, Director for Business Customers at Telekom Deutschland, adding: ‘The decisive factor for us is customer demand, and we are pleased to be able to offer our business customers fibre-optic lines in a further 33 communities across the country.’
