Dimension Data’s subsidiary Internet Solutions (IS) has reached an agreement with Cell C to use its 4G LTE infrastructure which operates in the 1800MHz and 2100MHz bands, providing customers with an alternative to fixed broadband, TechCentral writes.
ISPs buying capacity from IS can now choose from a selection of Cell C packages ranging from 50GB per month to 200GB per month. Cell C has 2,900 LTE base stations in the metropolitan areas of Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the Western Cape. IS chief solutions and operating officer Tony Walt said: ‘High-density LTE coverage offers distinct advantages over wired networks such as ADSLor fibre, and customers benefit from fast delivery of services with minimal disruption during installation, at lower capital and environmental costs.’ TeleGeography notes that in June 2017 IS signed a similar agreement with Rain (formerly Wireless Business Solutions [WBS]) to offer access over the latter’s LTE-A network.
