T-Mobile has expanded its offer in the Czech Republic by launching a new generation satellite TV service.
Known as T-Mobile SAT TV, it is available in 100% of the country and an alternative to the company’s IPTV platform in areas where internet access is not fast enough.
T-Mobile SAT TV offers viewers a basic package (S) that contains 59 of the most watched channels, 15 of which are in HD, for CZK399 (€15.7) a month. Its more comprehensive package (L) contains 103 channels, 23 in HD.
Viewers are offered the choice of two Kaon set-top boxes – a basic one for CZK2,301 or a premium one with a 440GB hard drive for CZK3,451, both of which can be paid for in installments. The installation fee for a two-year contract is CZK199 and CZK2,499 without one. Additional features include a TV archive containing programmes shown in the last two days, 60-minute rewind and the recording of movies up to seven days in advance.
Commenting on the new service, Juraj Bóna, director of marketing and FMC lead at T-Mobile Czech Republic, said: “We want to offer modern digital TV with a wide range of programming, where it is not possible to use our IPTV platform T-Mobile TV due to the lack of infrastructure and speed of the internet.
“T-Mobile SAT TV is based on a solution developed and tested by our sister company, Slovak Telekom, whose offer is used by half a million customers in Slovakia. The advantage of a custom solution is to customise customised software tailored to customers, as well as further service development.”
T-Mobile’s IPTV service was launched in April 2016 in the Czech Republic and is currently used by 35,000 customers.
