Mobile operator Bite Latvia deployed LTE equipment on 125 of its base stations in 2017. The list includes 41 newly-built 3G/LTE base stations and 84 upgraded base stations which had earlier been used for providing 3G services. The LTE network of the operator covers 75 percent of the country‘s area.
The operator built nine 3G/LTE base stations to meet demand for New Year's Eve. In addition, LTE was launched on 19 GSM/3G base stations during this period.
Bite Latvia invested around EUR 10 million in network development in 2017, andmore than 30 percent of this sum was spent on the expansion of the LTE network.
