A new broadband service provider CONNECTme is entering the Malaysian market, promising 100% coverage of the country using satellite based transmission.
CONNECTme said it would launch the service on March 8, and in the meantime was taking registration of interest through its website and mobile app.
“We are levelling the playing field for those without home broadband. Experience 100% coverage throughout Malaysia,” it posted on its website, adding that it would be accessible even to those without fibre cables.
Customers would be required to install an antenna on a wall or roof and an RF cable from the antenna into the home which connects to a satellite modem.
It warned that rain could cause the service to slowdown, with excessive rain possibly causing outages longer than 30 minutes.
