Telenor Hungary has announced that its 4G service is now available in nearly 2,700 towns and villages with a population of less than 6,000. Its LTE outdoor population coverage has reached 99 percent. As a result of this year's upgrades, 4G is available in about 450 villages with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants and over 110 towns and villages with between 1,000 and 6,000 residents.
Currently, Telenor provides 4G mobile data services at a download rate of 150 Mbps in 1,573 villages with a population of less than 1,000, in 1,112 towns and villages with between 1,000 and 6,000, and in 142 cities and towns with a population of more than 10,000.
Telenor implemented 170 new base stations this year, which enable 4G+ service at up to 300 Mbps for downloads. As a result, 4G+ technology is now up and running at more than 880 base stations nationwide. 4G+ service is available to Telenor customers in about a 100 Hungarian towns and villages.
In Budapest, Telenor has installed 90 base stations using the 800 MHz LTE frequency, improving deep indoor reception from 83 percent to 88 percent.
