Uruguayan state-owned telecoms operator Administracion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Antel) has launched an LTE-A network which supports maximum download speeds of 500Mbps.
The new high-speed service, which Antel has branded as ‘4.5G’, is initially available in San Gregorio de Polanco, Piriapolis and Maldonado, while coverage will be expanded to other key locations to enable customers to watch the football World Cup, which begins in June 2018, via their mobile handsets.
