The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) welcomes MOQdigital’s decision to expand its managed services base in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. An Australian IT services provider with a ‘service first’ mantra, MOQdigital has structured its 24×7 managed services operations in a blended model, combining its Brisbane service desk with the team in Sri Lanka.
“Our business has a wealth of experience in managed services, and we’ve used this experience to structure a successful blend of client facing and remote services to give our clients the best of both worlds,” said Joe D’Addio, CEO, MOQdigital.
“Having an office in Sri Lanka enables the delivery of personalised, high quality managed services to our clients around the clock, providing a combination of speed of delivery, economy, and flexibility.”
MOQdigital first invested in Sri Lanka in early 2016 with the acquisition of TETRAN, a managed IT services and professional services company with over 90 staff and offices in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. TETRAN’s Sri Lankan operations were officially rebranded as MOQdigital Asia Pacific in April this year and currently employs 140 staff.
“We are thrilled with MOQdigital’s decision to expand its investment in the Sri Lankan office. It’s a vote of confidence not just in the quality of our country’s infrastructure and the capabilities of our people, but also a recognition of the cultural alignment between Australian and Sri Lankan businesses,” said Sachindra Samararatne, program manager, Sri Lanka ICTA.
“We have seen an increasing level of business activity between Australia and Sri Lanka over the past 12 months, particularly in the areas of IT sourcing, and business knowledge management services. We look forward to the continued positive impact that MOQdigital and other Australian businesses are having on our community from their investment in Sri Lankan operations.”
MOQdigital Asia Pacific is based in Orion City, a purpose-built technology business park in Colombo, providing office space and infrastructure to the region’s IT and business process management (BPM) industries. Orion City currently provides uninterrupted power, backup units, around the clock security, dedicated internet connectivity and a range of other services so that its business tenants can concentrate on their core business.
“Our Sri Lankan business has been operating successfully in the local market here for more than ten years, and we have a loyal, longstanding team that has developed a fantastic culture and skillset. Combined with our recent growth, this has given MOQdigital access to a pool of highly skilled people that truly live our service first values and are perfectly suited to meeting the needs of our Australian and international clients,” said Kelly Wilkes, regional manager – Sri Lanka, MOQdigital.
“Our team here includes development, support, maintenance, and other client facing services, working throughout the lifecycle from inception to ongoing support and management. We also deliver shared services in finance, IT and talent management. MOQdigital’s mission is to deliver high value specialist skills, services, products and solutions, and the Sri Lankan operation is key to executing this strategy. We will continue to invest in R&D and skills acquisition, service delivery, and scale cost-effectively to meet client growth. That makes MOQdigital a rewarding workplace for our current team, and an attractive proposition for potential employees.”
In addition to internal initiatives to encourage growth in the ICT sector, the Government of Sri Lanka has also implemented a range of measures that provides a safe environment for investors, allowing 100 percent foreign ownership, and no restrictions on repatriation of earnings, fees and capital.
ICTA has also facilitated ICT delegations to Australia during the past five years with over 70 individual companies benefiting as a result. These companies have received support in numerous ways, such as having the opportunity to exhibit at international conferences and to take part in facilitated matchmaking and networking sessions with Australian businesses.
