Muscat Municipality has modified certain features of its mobile app ‘Baladiyeti’ to make it more user-friendly.
According to the municipality, the changes have been made on the basis of user feedback. They said that one of the main changes is the use of the PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) system of identification. “Most services earlier required PKI authentication of the user to use the app. That has been removed for certain services in the newer version of the app.
“For example, the older version of the app required new users to register with an email address or their mobile number. After that they were directed to a page where people had to login with their PKI authenticated identity card. In the newer version, this option has been given a go by for certain services. Once registered, the user can directly access the home page of the Baladiyeti app.”
The newer version of the app has fewer steps for registration.
Municipality has said that more telecom service providers have been linked to the app so that more users can access it.
“For example in the older version, the payment for parking was available only for network operators like Ooredoo, FRiENDi and Omantel. Now, Renna users too can make payments through the app. Also, the payment on Baladiyeti app can be made through both debit and credit cards.”
The app was launched in April 2016.
