Zambia Telecommunications Company (Zamtel) is investing USD280 million in the upgrade of its network infrastructure, with a view to improving coverage and service quality.
Tech Trends quotes the state-owned firm’s CEO Sydney Mupeta as saying that Zamtel has begun modernising the first 100 out of a total 1,009 sites, which will see the rollout of 4G LTE speeds of up to 240Mbps. The executive added that Zamtel recently crossed the two million subscriber mark and is ‘fully on schedule’ to end the year with around 2.5 million customers.
