Aiming to overcome the destruction caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria, Puerto Rico’s power and communications infrastructure, Lilly Broadcasting has announced the over-the-top (OTT) distribution of the One Caribbean Television network.
The network will be available over the emergency Wi-Fi hot spot network built by Liberty Cablevision for local individuals and small business. The OTT signal will also available on mobile devices.
The decision aims to bring TV news, weather forecasts and other information to a territory that has been without a stable power source and communications for over a month.
“Lilly Broadcasting felt that during this time of need, anything they could do to help provide news and weather information to the residents of Puerto Rico, to keep them informed and safe, is a priority. If we also provide entertainment to Puerto Rico, hopefully this could provide an escape and a time to heal for the all the residents,” stated the company, which distributes One Caribbean Television in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean.
