New Panasonic service provides LTE connectivity in 180 countries

Getting on the internet isn’t as easy as it should be for the world’s mobile workers. So Panasonic’s U.S. division is unveiling a new connectivity service today for its ruggedized computers that are meant to be taken into places with harsh conditions.

The Panasonic P.180 connectivity service will offer a seamless LTE network for Panasonic’s Toughbook users, making sure they can get on the internet in 180 countries.

The service provides a seamless network with predictable pricing and no roaming fees. Panasonic has teamed up with Cubic Telecom, which has a global connectivity platform. Panasonic P.180 has 25 mobile operator partnerships, with 60 full LTE network integrations around the world.

“Today’s announcement represents the latest step in our continued commitment to redefining mobility and opening up the next chapter of mobile productivity,” said Victoria Obenshain, vice president at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, in a statement. “Increasingly, we’ve seen customers with highly mobile workforces looking for a seamless, reliable solution that ensures connectivity here in the U.S. and around the world.”

The Panasonic P.180 connectivity service enables connectivity across global borders under a single Panasonic Connected Solutions service. Additionally, Panasonic P.180 service is designed to be a scalable solution, offering a connectivity platform for workforces of any size.

“In today’s era of always-on, real-time communication, seamless and reliable connectivity is vital for business productivity,” said Barry Napier, CEO of Cubic Telecom, in a statement. “Panasonic has selected Cubic Telecom to meet the global connectivity demands of enterprises and their employees who depend on Panasonic’s family of rugged mobility devices.”

The service does not work with non-Panasonic computers. The Panasonic P.180 connectivity service will be available to customers in the fourth quarter of 2017.
