Disney has launched a new OTT platform in Ireland. The streaming service, which has been titled DisneyLife, will bring over 400 movies to the region along with a selection of Disney channel Shows, Disney e-books, and music for a monthly price of €6.99 ($8.27 US). DisneyLife draws on family-favorite stories and characters from classic animations like “The Lion King” to Disney Pixar classics including “Finding Nemo,” and live action blockbusters such as the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
At launch, the platform will include over 250 stories available as audio and ebooks. Additionally, the service includes a read-along function for younger children and “reading adventures” for more experienced readers. It will also include over 7000 sing-along-songs.
“DisneyLife offers the chance to discover Disney in a way you have never been able to before. Placing characters and stories at the center, we have opened the gates to the Castle and created this service with families and fans in mind, allowing them to explore Disney all in one place. Building on our UK launch at the end of 2015, we are delighted that DisneyLife Ireland is making Disney entertainment available to Irish fans in new ways.”
The service allows users to create up to six individual profile across 10 different devices, using their favorite iconic Disney character. The app also includes built-in controls so that parents can set time limits on their children’s profiles for weekday and weekend use.
As of now, DisneyLife is only available in Ireland. However, Disney did recently launch a new app in the US titled Disney Now. The app consolidates all of Disney’s cable channels and TV movies, but requires a subscription to a cable provider to access the full content.
While DisneyLife isn’t available in the US, it does give an idea of what to expect from the company’s streaming service it plans to launch in the states come 2019.
