Bolivia's telecommunications regulation authority ATT and national identity registry agency Segip have signed an agreement aimed at better controlling the sale of mobile phones throughout the country. ATT will now be able to access Segip's records to check details on telecommunications users, with the ATT in turn providing technical support to implement the new electronic signature system. The agreement allows for “the effective control of the sale and activation of stolen, misplaced and/or lost mobile phones, and prevents the use of mobile services for criminal activities," said ATT in a statement.
