Vodafone Turkey said it's the first operator to use the Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) technology in 81 provinces of Turkey, providing private networks for objects and enabling them to serve large areas in very narrow bands like 200 KHz. NB-IoT technology responds to the needs of many on-site enterprise applications such as meters, sensor monitoring, inventory tracking, intelligent urban planning, and intelligent agriculture. With NB-IoT, the pioneering technology of 5G, Vodafone said it will connect all the objects in daily life with each other via mobile access. NB-IoT technology, which can also be used on existing mobile networks, will pave the way for the development of new products in smart urbanism, the operator said in a press release.
In mid-August, rival operator Turkcell announced it became the first operator in Turkey to support NB-IoT on its LTE-A network.
