A day after the UAE’s telecom operators changed their network names on their customers’ phones, a bigger news followed — 50 per cent discounts for calls made from the UAE to Saudi Arabia.
Both du and etisalat on Wednesday changed their network names to “UAE KSA Together” to mark Saudi Arabia’s 87th National Day, which falls on Saturday.
On Thursday, both networks announced on their official Twitter handles that they are offering calls from mobile phones and fixed lines from the UAE to Saudi Arabia at half the price from September 21 to 23.
SMSes were also sent to their users and one message from du reads: “On the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s National Day on September 23, all mobile and fixed line calls from UAE to Saudi Arabia from today until midnight Saturday (September 23) will be discounted 50 per cent. May our two nations continue to prosper and remain united forever.”
Wasel Prepaid’s standard rate for etisalat users is 0.4 fils per second as stated on etisalat’s website while du’s standard rates were not immediately available.
