Flow switches on LTE

Flow (Saint Lucia) has announced that its 4G LTE network is now live as the country joins the growing list of Caribbean markets now served by the new generation mobile technology.

The mobile operator, part of the Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) group, switched on its advanced network – thought to operate at 700MHz – in the main population centres of Castries, Gros Islet, Vieux Fort, and Soufriere.

The cellco is launching a range of new post-paid and pre-paid data plans, noting that to access the new service, Flow users will need to obtain a 4G-enabled SIM card (available at no additional cost from any Flow full-service retail outlet), and have an LTE-capable handset or mobile device. The company says the new network supports a number of smartphones such as the new iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Flow Country Manager Chris Williams said: ‘With this launch … Flow subscribers can now experience data speeds of up to 69Mbps. When you put a Flow LTE SIM in your mobile device, you will be able to surf the internet at speeds comparable to, and in some cases even greater than your home connection’.
