Telecoms regulator the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (Post & Telestyrelsen, PTS) has announced that it will hold an auction for spectrum in the 450MHz frequency band early next year.
The regulator will offer one national licence of 2×5MHz in the 450MHz band. The minimum bid for the licence has been set at SEK10 million (USD1.2 million) and the PTS has stipulated that the winning bidder will be required to cover 80% of the area in each Swedish county with mobile broadband services, offering download speeds of 5Mbps and upload speeds of 128kbps.
The licence will run from 5 March 2020 until 31 December 2044. The deadline for applications is 23 January 2018, with the auction set to take place on 6 February 2018.
