Orange Jordan says frequency investments hit JOD 1.1bln

Orange Jordan's investments in frequencies and infrastructure have reached about JOD 1.1 billion since it began operations in the country¸ according to chairman Shabib Ammari. It has concentrated on upgrading broadband networks and introducing third and fourth generation services, he said, according to Jordan Times. The group will continue investing in the telecommunication sector in the country, he said.

Ammari added that the company provides the treasury with revenues amounting to JOD 100-120 million annually in the form of taxes and other fees. Chairman and CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa Bruno Mettling stressed the group's "continued commitment" to Jordan. Mettling with Prime Minister Hani Mulki and discussed difficulties faced by companies "operating under high taxation" and the need for a better regulatory and taxation framework in order to support the industry.

He added that Orange Jordan plans to establish a training centre in Tafileh Governorate, southwest of Amman, to support the development of local skills in the ICT sector. He also reviewed the group's Essentials 2020 strategy that focuses on accelerating the digital transformation of the company’s services and customer relationships.

Through this strategy, he said, the company will support new activities and job opportunities made possible by digital transformation. Orange Jordan CEO Jerome Henique said the opening of its new headquarters coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Orange brand in Jordan.
