Digital-services provider PLDT Inc. has deployed high-speed broadband services to the key residential areas of Cavite province, expanding the reach of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) facilities.
With 23 cities and municipalities getting FTTH coverage, Cavite was declared as the country’s first fiber-powered “Smart Province”, PLDT FVP Oscar A. Reyes Jr. said.
“As the country’s first-ever fiber-powered Smart Province, Cavite’s residents and businesses now have access to PLDT’s robust, reliable Internet and leading digital services to strengthen their connections at home and at work,” he added.
The rollout covers households within Cavite’s bustling residential areas, from Bacoor to General Trias, encompassing Citihomes (Bacoor), Sea Breeze Subdivision (Cavite City), Legian Subdivision (Imus), Avida Residences (Dasmariñas), Boston Heights (Kawit), Poblacion/Town Proper (Alfonso, Amadeo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez and Ternate), Ponderosa Leisure Farms (Silang), Alta Monte Subdivision (Tagaytay), Lancaster Estate (General Trias), and more.
With the rollout, Reyes said people in the area can now enjoy up to 1 Gbps of symmetrical Internet speeds, meaning subscribers may download and upload at equally high speeds.
“PLDT’s efforts to create more fiber-powered Smart Cities and Smart Provinces all over the country are part of our commitment to enrich the lives of more Filipinos, as well as to create world-class, meaningful digital experiences for the entire family’s entertainment, convenience and security,” Reyes said.
The province-wide FTTH deployment in Cavite is the latest phase in PLDT’s aggressive fiber-expansion program, which has transformed key urban hubs in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao into connected communities.
At the end of June the telco’s fiber facilities have passed 3.3 million homes.
It expects to expand its FTTH coverage to about 4 million homes by the end of 2017.
