Hybrid TV offering launched for the Caribbean

STB maker Hybroad has teamed with Danish middleware company Nordija to deliver an integrated IPTV and OTT set-top-box solution for US telco Air Link Communications which is a result of a newly initiated collaboration between the middleware firm and the and IPTV/OTT set-top box company which integrates Nordija’s fokusOn middleware platform on the new 4K HEVC-compliant Hybroad box. Air Link will announce the upgraded TV offering for viewers in the Caribbean region at the beginning of 2018.

“We chose Nordija because of their ability to support our existing legacy HFC (hybrid fibre coax) network along with our New GPON IP-based network”, commented Air Link CEO Keenan Singh. “Also, our decision was based on Nordija being built on HTML 5 which we see as future proof, as most devices can run web-based applications, making integration to new platforms easier. “We see this partnership with Nordija as playing a critical role in achieving our goal of always evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of the pay-TV market.”

“We’re happy to see the joint solution of Nordija middleware on Hybroad STB, providing the operator market a cost-effective and ready-to-go IPTV/OTT STB solution with functions like EPG, linear TV, VOD, catch-up, nPVR and much more, both available on Linux and Android platforms,” added Kevin Xia, VP at Hybroad.
