O2 to roll out 4G in rural areas of UK

O2 has announced that it will be rolling out 4G in Saxilby later this month, as part of plans to provide the service in more rural areas.

The upgrades will begin on Monday, August 28, with customers expected to see improvements in subsequent weeks.

Work will also be carried out to improve the 2G and 3G network.

Customers may experience intermittent signal service during the construction of the network.

O2 has said that if any users do experience this problem then they can make and receive calls on any wifi-connected device using their mobile number by downloading the O2 TU Go app.

Chief operating officer for Telefónica UK, Derek McManus, said: “I’m delighted that O2 customers in Saxilby will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet making everything easier.

“For our business customers, using 4G means they can be more effective and flexible by working remotely and accessing cloud services.”
