Indonesia’s XL Axiata says its new home broadband service, XL Home, is enjoying strong take-up, making it confident that it could eventually sign up over a million such users. The operator – previously specialised in the mobile market – supplies XL Home with a 240GB download quota and a free router capable of up to 32 simultaneous Wi-Fi connections.
The firm’s President Dian Siswarini said this week that XL Home broadband user take-up is encouraging noting: ‘The XL Home service already has 120,000 subscribers [by the end of] the first half of 2017. This is a hundred percent surge compared to the same period last year.’ Going forward, Dian said that XL Axiata is working to expand its presence in the fixed broadband market. ‘We have a kind of test in several areas in Jakarta and outside Jakarta for fixed broadband,’ he said, adding ‘we will also improve the content of the home broadband service later.’
