MPT offers FTTH internet service

Myanmar operator MPT has launched its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet service in selected parts of downtown Yangon. The operator is offering a discounted promotional one-time installation fee of MMK 150,000 for homes and small businesses.

Residents around the Sule Pagoda area in Pabedan Township can select from two service options. The first package of 5 Mbps is available for MMK 69,000 per month, and provides unlimited fiber internet access. Customers who need faster internet speeds can take up the 10 Mbps package for MMK 109,000 per month.

Following its introduction of FTTH service in downtown Yangon this August, MPT plans to expand its FTTH offering to other areas of Yangon and Mandalay by early 2018, as well as roll out the service to other major cities across Myanmar throughout next year.

The promotional installation price of MMK 150,000 will be available for a limited time, after which customers will be charged MMK 200,000. The installation price includes cabling (subject to premise layout), activation cost, and rental for a terminal which would function as a Wi-Fi router.
