Orange Poland announced an increase in the number of LTE base stations on its network using carrier aggregation to nearly 2,300 at the end of June, from 467 at the start of the year. In total, it counts over 9,800 base stations on the 4G network.
A total 463 are already aggregating three carrier bands, to boost capacity and speeds in the most congested areas. This includes the use of 4x4 MIMO on the 2,600 MHz band.
The increased capacity helped data traffic grow to 188.55 PB in the first half of 2017 from 129.85 in the second half of 2016. In June the operator passed the milestone of 25,000 TB per month, with the vast majority of data traffic going over the LTE network.
