TTK boosts IPTV to 50 cities

Russian fixed broadband network operator TransTeleCom (TTK) has expanded its IPTV set-top box (STB)-based ‘interactive TV’ services to 50 cities, it disclosed on its website, having recently added new locations to the footprint including Orenburg, Tobolsk, Smolensk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and others. A budget ‘social’ IPTV package with 59 channels is available for free usage after purchase of the STB equipment, or additional packages with 90-101 channels can be subscribed to, whilst a raft of new services are planned, including film rental and multi-screen facilities. TTK introduced its IPTV service in Q1 2017, reaching 32 cities by May. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that TTK operates a fibre broadband access network with a presence in 281 cities (by March 2017), passing over six million households.
