Vodafone Turkey has announced on its website that it is the first operator in the country to test the 700MHz band using its existing commercial 4G/4.5G LTE network. Vodafone partnered Huawei Technologies and TechCity Istanbul for the project, using 700MHz frequencies which are earmarked for transferral from television broadcast services to mobile broadband usage. Vodafone says that the 700MHz spectrum is of great importance for upcoming 5G network technology in terms of achieving wide national coverage.
