Leon County residents can now access emergency and disaster information in seconds, thanks to a new app.
Thursday, Leon County officials announced the release of the new 'Citizens Connect' mobile app.
The app allows users to get push notifications about county alerts sent right to their smartphone.
The app will also be a resource for emergency information, whether it be shelter locations or sand bag pick up locations.
Citizens will also be able to alert the county about their service requests through the app.
"We take their suggestions, ideas, and also any of their service request they might have. So if there's a pothole that needs to be addressed, or there are other concerns with facilities that we operate at the county, we would be happy to hear from citizens and address those concerns,” says Mathieu Cavell with Leon County.
Because of the app, the National Weather Service recognizes Leon County as a 'Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador.'
