Nepal Police has introduced digital signature system to make its operation more systematic and effective.
Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal officially inaugurated the system by sending a communication with digital signature to the Metropolitan Police Office and all five regional police offices amid a function organised in the NP Headquarters, Naxal today.
On the occasion, Managing Director of Thapathali-based Nepal Certifying Company Pvt Ltd Purushottam Ghimire handed over seven units of digital signature kit to IGP Aryal. The company has obtained license to issue digital signature and certificate in Nepal for secured and authentic electronic transactions.
Kishan Pandey, an IT officer at the company, gave a presentation on the use of digital signature.
With the introduction of digital signature, it will be used for communication among the NP Headquarters, Metropolitan Police Office and all five regional police offices.
According to the NP, digital signature system was launched to make official communication secure and reliable besides preventing chances of fake correspondence and phony communications. This system helps the concerned officials to verify the authenticity of a communication or correspondence technically.
As many as 40 police personnel have also undergone training on the management of digital signature, which is basically a way to ensure that an electronic document such as e-mail, spreadsheet and text file is authentic.
