IT&E activates LTE service on Tinian

Residents on Tinian can now depend on faster internet speeds. IT&E announced Friday that it has activated LTE services at its central office in San Jose, Tinian.

With download speeds averaging 25 mbps, Tinian consumers will be able to experience faster speeds as they stream high-definition movies, make high-quality video calls, or conduct online business transactions.

“As the demand for a richer and faster network experience continues to grow, we are excited to be launching LTE services on Tinian,” said Rose Soledad, general manager of IT&E CNMI Operations. “More than ever, our customers are increasingly reliant on their mobile internet devices to perform critical business and personal functions, and this expanded and ramped up network service on Tinian will ensure that they have the necessary network infrastructure and support.”

Soledad added that work is already underway to expand its network coverage on Tinian, which includes the installation of additional high-speed LTE sites throughout the island.

“The considerable upgrade in speed and coverage is part of IT&E multi-million dollar investment to enhance the customer experience for all CNMI residents,” said Soledad. “We have already invested millions of dollars in buried cable and wireless networks to provide improved internet speeds and better overall service, and the company is continuing to finance even more improvements.”

These improvements, according to Soledad, include laying buried fiber optic cables, connecting all cellular sites to this fiber optic network, and expanding the 4G/LTE capabilities of its wireless networks.
