EWE presents Gigabit broadband in 100 cities

German regional utility and telecoms company EWE has announced that it has introduced Gigabit broadband connectivity for its retail customers. The deployment has been enabled by the group’s EUR1.2 billion (USD1.4 billion) investment programme, as unveiled in December 2016. The new Gigabit service – which is priced at EUR199.95 per month – is already said to be available in more than 100 cities and municipalities throughout the telco’s operational footprint. Going forward, EWE expects to extend its fibre networks to 90 more cities and municipalities in the counties of Aurich, Cloppenburg, Cuxhaven, Diepholz, Emsland, Grafschaft Bentheim, Harburg, Leer, Oldenburg, Wittmund and Steinfurt and Bremerhaven during the second half of 2017.
