Ooredoo to expand FTTH network in Muscat

Qatari backed telco Ooredoo Oman has announced plans to extend its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to new areas of Muscat governorate. By the end of June Aynt, Darsait, Hamirya, Wadi Kabir, Wadi Adai, Madinat Al-Ilam and Al Qurum will be covered by the high-speed network, the operator confirmed in a press release. Commenting on the rollout, Director of Consumer Sales Feras Al Shaikh was quoted as saying: ‘We continue to revamp and upgrade our Superfast Fibre experience, with the introduction of services in new areas. The new development links a greater number of families and residents with a fantastic range of benefits including amazing speeds of up to 1Gbps, unlimited use and discounts on international call rates … The Superfast Fibre plans are comprehensive, all-inclusive plans perfect for customers wanting added value and extensive benefits when connecting to a fibre network. Beginning with its zero installation fees, costs start at a highly affordable OMR28 (USD72.7) and allow users to connect to a fast and secure network, receive unlimited Ooredoo to Ooredoo fixed minutes, alongside uninterrupted and completely buffer-free internet.’
