Etisalat Launches Medicine Box Initiative for its Employees

Etisalat today announced its ‘Medicine Box Initiative’ in partnership with Al Ihsan Charity Society to facilitate the donation of unused medicines by all its employees during the holy month of Ramadan.

The donated medicines will go towards supporting Al Ihsan Medical Complex, one of the main projects being managed by Al Ihsan Charitable Society in Ajman. This is a charitable pharmacy that donates free unused medicines to people in need.

Customised Eticare boxes have been created and placed across 12 Etisalat offices in UAE. During this month, Etisalat has distributed specially designed pouches among employees to collect unused medicines and drop it off at these boxes. The medicine must not be expired and should be valid for atleast 6 months. Employees are instructed to include syrups or ointments that are unused and unopened in addition to the fact that they do not require refrigeration.

Dr Ahmed Bin Ali, Senior Vice President, Etisalat Corporate Communication said: “Etisalat is proud to announce a first of a kind ‘Medicine Drop Box Initiative’ this year during the holy month of Ramadan in collaboration with Al Ihsan Charity in Ajman. Our CSR team worked on this project very closely with the charity as we realized that there are millions of people worldwide who do not have access to basic medication and facilities. In UAE, our employees would be pleased to contribute to this worthy initiative especially that all of us have a lot of unused medicines that just go to waste most of the time.

“With 2017 declared as the year of giving Etisalat is also working on a number of initiatives to support the government in its goals of giving back to the society. Such initiatives also help in engaging our employees actively in the company’s CSR initiatives across the country.”

Dr Haki E Abraheem, Executive Director, Al Ihsan Medical Complex said: “Al Ihsan Medical Complex is considered as one of the main projects of Al Ihsan Charitable Society in Ajman, the first charitable medical complex in UAE. It provides free health care to more than 3000 poor and low income families. The sustainability of this project comes from the support provided by its strategic partners, including Etisalat.

“In the year of giving and with the beginning of the month of Ramadan, this initiative was launched with Etisalat as a campaign to collect medicines for the poor and low-income patients and under the supervision of our medical complex and the health conditions of the safety of these medicines, to reduce the physical burden, especially those with chronic diseases and requiring treatment throughout the year. I want to thank Etisalat for supporting us in this initiative that will help so many deserving people.”
