Orange 4G hits 2.4 million customers

A total of 2.4 million customers were using Orange 4G services at the end of March this year, double as compared to the first quarter of 2016, due to rising sales of smartphones and devices connected to smartphones, informs the company on Thursday.

"In the first quarter of the year, tailored offers encouraged customers to select 4G Internet rich subscriptions and the possibility to purchase pay-per-bill instalment phones. The ever growing need for Internet access was reconfirmed by the mobile traffic which doubled in this period, as well as 4G traffic that rose four times in Q1 of 2017 against Q1 of 2016," reads a press release of the company.

Between January and March, Orange Romania grossed a turnover of 246.2 million euro, up 4.6 pct over the same period last year, continuing the upward trend of the last 8 quarters. According to the company, growth was driven by the performance of mobile services, mobile devices sales, and the evolution of converging services.

On March 31, 2017, Orange Romania was providing mobile and land line services to 10,065,000 customers, maintaining the same rising trend of subscribers.

The Orange Home TV Satellite and Cable Service accounts for 342,000 customers at the end of the first three months of the year, up 16.4 pct over the same period in 2016. Land line Broadband Services had 112,000 subscribers. Of these, the number of customers using Orange Home Net through optical fiber almost duplicated over the previous quarter, exceeding 12,000.

"The Essentials2020 strategy trajectories account for this quarter's continuous performance. The growth vectors we have focused on during these first three months were the network, the development of land line services and the entry into the financial services domain," afirmed Liudmila Climoc, Chief Executive Officer Orange Romania.
