Mexico revamps IPTV in the wake of 500Mbpsfiber network

Grupo Salinas-owned Totalplay is to revamp its IPTV service across Mexico to include more smart and interactive features.

The operator, which hasn’t unveiled much of its plans, has stated that it is preparing an important update to its pay-TV service and will also improve it mobile and TV everywhere experiences. The move is set to follow the launch of a 500Mbp offer, which Totalplay claims will be the fastest Internet in Latin America.

“Such speed will change the way Mexicans live in the digital ecosystem, in a world demanding more and better connectivity,” said the company in a statement. “In addition to reducing download times, Totalplay clients will be able to carry out several activities, such as video streaming, at the same time.”

Through the 500Mpb connection, Totalplay will also enable 4K broadcasting as it has been doing through its 300Mbps offer since July 2016.

The pay-TV operator is also aiming to grow its hub for over-the-top (OTT) video players in Mexico, integrating video-on-demand (VOD) and streaming services such as Netflix, FOX, Sony, HBO or Claro video under one interface.
