AT&T boosts investment to improve wireless networks

AT&T invested nearly $700 million in its Kentucky wireless and wired networks during 2014-2016. These investments drive a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses. They also improve critical services that support public safety and first responders.

In 2016, AT&T made 846 wireless network upgrades in Kentucky. The AT&T LTE network covers nearly 400 million people in North America.

In 2016, AT&T made 846 wireless network upgrades in Kentucky. The AT&T LTE network covers nearly 400 million people in North America. Notable Kentucky network enhancements in 2016 included:

— 396 bandwidth expansions
— 412 additional carrier adds
— 27 new site builds
— 11 LTE carrier overlays on existing cell sites

AT&T plans to continue its investment in Kentucky with additional upgrades.

“Our wired and wireless buildout plans in Kentucky include hundreds of millions of dollars dedicated to improving our networks,” said Hood Harris, president of AT&T Kentucky.
