Entel plans to launch its first quad-play offer

Bolivia’s public telco Entel is preparing to launch its first quad-play offer in the country, powered by its fibre network.

According to Entel’s GM, Oscar Coca, speaking to Bolivia TV, the service will be available from today (2 May), delivering IPTV, Internet, voice IP and mobile. Anticipating an immediate demand for one of Bolivia’s first convergent offers, Entel says it is ready to enable up to 180,000 accesses in the coming weeks.

“We are well prepared. We are launching a package that will cost $34 - $20 less than subscribing to each service separately,” said Coca. “And this is possible thanks to fibre technology.”

The service will be available for all those within the fibre coverage, which currently extends throughout the country’s main cities.

In a previous interview, Coca stated that the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network guaranteed on average speeds of 50Mbps, enough to carry IP-video and allow a stable broadband Internet connection.

Entel’s FTTH network has been the most ambitious project carried out by the public telco, taking almost four years to become commercially available. Millicom’s Tigo, Entel’s main competitor, has been offering similar convergent packages since the end of 2015.
