National Transformation initiatives to be drafted based on public feedback

The Government wants to hear public feedback on matters the government should place importance on as it moves towards achieving the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) initiative, said MCA Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon (pic).

"The government - particularly Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak - wants to hear from the people as to what should be in the country's plan in the next 30 years," he said.

Chong added that it is important for Malaysians to contribute their views as Wawasan 2020 was drafted by public servants without consultation with the public.

"So it is important and vital for every Malaysian to come forward and give your views and opinions as to what we should do and what development we should focus on for the next 30 years in achieving 2050," he said at a discussion with the public on TN50 as part of the "Stronger Together Carnival" organised by MCA Selayang here Sunday.

Among the issues raised were the lack of internet coverage throughout the country, to which Chong agreed that internet services in Malaysia leave much to be desired.

He suggested that more foreign telecommunication companies be allowed to enter the competition to enable Malaysians enjoy cheaper prices, faster and better internet speeds.

"There are too few Malaysian telecommunication companies, thus creating a monopoly. There should be more local and foreign companies joining the market. South Korea already has 5G network, and we have just started using 4G," said Chong.

He added that the issue of internet coverage must be solved to develop the potential of Malaysia's youth.

"I agree that to develop the potential of our young people, we must first solve the network problem," he said.
