Open networking solutions provider ADTRAN has announced that Australia’s Vocus Communications is in the process of deploying a range of its next generation access technologies, including the vendor’s XGS-PON and Mosaic architecture. The deployment, which is said to be in its ‘final stages of preparedness’, will reportedly allow for the ‘high utilisation’ of Vocus’s extensive metro fibre network, whilst enabling 10Gbps symmetrical business grade capacity. In a press release, it was confirmed that Vocus will utilise ADTRAN’s Multi Service Access Nodes, 10G Optical Line Termination (OLT) equipment and 10G Optical Network Termination (ONT) units to build out the 10G PON deployment. Additionally, Vocus will use the ADTRAN Mosaic Cloud Platform as an open microservices architecture providing network management and SDN control for the 10Gbps services access network.
