4G services will officially start operating in Egypt in a few weeks, CEO of Orange Egypt Jean-Marc Harion said on the sidelines of a conference held to announce a partnership in the field of e-commerce between Orange, Jumia and Qualcomm.
He encouraged all Orange customers to replace their old SIM cards with new ones that support the 4G service - free of charge from the company's branches - as soon as possible so they can take advantage of the service once installed.
Harion pointed out that the company will soon receive the frequencies allocated to Orange to establish and operate 4G service at US$484 million, as well as virtual fixed-lines services worth $11.262 million, in accordance to the license signed in mid-October 2016 with the Egyptian government.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Yasser al-Qadi announced at the end of March that 4G services will start operating in June.
